A Postcard From The Heart

2016

This is my 3 Album produced in the Summer of 2016. The final project that Matt was Involved in and for sure Matt’s love of producers LIKE Mike Oldfield & Trevour Horn certainly helped in ‘The Crossings’ production. The Album is split into two parts.
Part 1: 7 normally structured tracks. Track 3- Let’s Go out Tonight is a cover of this Blue Nile classic. Track 7- This One’s for You is my version of the beautiful Beth Hart song and is dedicated to my Mum Annie. Track 4- Emotion is dedicated to my dear Friend Elena and in fact she is the spoken words in Italian at the end.
Part 2: The Crossings (Also released as a separate version as a limited edition in Vinyl) This is a piece I have been trying to do for a good while. It is a story told through the innocent eyes of a small boy of 6 years old living in 1960’s rural Ireland as his journey not only crossed land and sea but also tells about the joy and sadness that life experiences can reveal to us along the way. Ireland at that time was a very poor country and after almost a century the family lost their only source of income as gate keepers for the trains that transported Sugar Beet to Portlaoise and on to the refineries in Carlow and Mallow. The advent of refined cane sugar from the British colonies meant that the expensive process of refining sugar beet was no longer viable. The branch line from Mountmellick to Portlaoise could not be sustained with passengers alone and despite resistance had to close. The family were left with no option but to migrate across the pond to England. The following years as with every family were filled with a mixture of wonders and tragedies in equal measure. Of course, along the journey we lost many dear family members and friends who have passed but their memories and the sacrifices they made for their children lives on through subsequent generations. I feel honored and privileged to bring this story to life in words and music.
